Mr. Maake completed his LLB Degree in 1999 at the University of Limpopo formally known as University of the North in 1999. In 2000 he attended a school for legal practice in the first semester and he immediately started serving his articles of clerkship at JOHN MOHOTO Attorneys of Polokwane, and he later moved to complete his articles of clerkship with MAMODUPI MOHLALA Attorneys of Randburg, Johannesburg. Upon his admission in 2002 he started operating on his own account in Johannesburg under the name and style ATTORNEYS POPELA MAAKE INC.
During his term of practice he acted he is still acting for the following institution among others, Greater Letaba Local Municipality, Blouberg Municipality, Lephalale Local Municipality, Fetakgomo Local Municipality, Capricorn District Municipality, Aganang Local Municipality, Lepelle Nkumpi Local Municipality, Molemole Local Municipality local municipality, Mogalakwena local municipality, Department of Human Settlement & Traditional Affairs and Polokwane Local Municipality. He preside and prosecute in their Disciplinary Hearings on top of the Civil and Commercial work that he does for them. He acted as a Magistrate for the District of Mokerong Held at Mahwelereng from June 2009 to November 2009, as part of his Community Development Projects he is involved in. He was appointed as the Commissioner of the Small Claims Court since June 2009 by the Minister of Justice the Honourable Jeff Radebe and he is still serving for the District of Belabela. He has presided over in civil, delictual and Road Accident Fund claims as acting Magistrate.
He was the lead Legal Advisor to the Mogalakwena Municipality in the Olifants River Water Resources Development Project a Water Project Co-ordinated by THE NATIONAL DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS through TCTA.
Mr. Maake specializes in Labour Law and Human Right Law. He has the Right of Appearance in the High Court of South Africa. He appears on behalf of his clients in the lower, High Court Labour Court and the Constitutional Litigation.
He appears in the High Court of South Africa, sitting as a Court of First instance and a Court of Appeal. His interest is Constitutional, Human Right Law and Constitutional Litigation developed while he was still doing his LLB Degree as he had a special interest in the Course he did called Constitutional Litigation.
And further during his Masters’ studies when he did a Course called Labour Law and the Constitution. Mr. Maake holds the following qualifications despite fourteen (14) years of experience in Law Practice. LLB Degree and LLM in Labour from University of Limpopo. And he holds a post graduate certificate in Legal Practice from University of Limpopo. He was once an instructor at the School of Legal Practice (PLT) Polokwane during 2008 on a module of Road Accident Fund claims. He intends pursuing another Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Human Rights with a view to sharpen and advance his skills in the said area. .
